These ornaments are the ones I bought for the 2008 iridescent photo contest. They sit in this bowl now on my TV stand. The doily was made by my great grandmother.
I think it is depression glass. It's very similar to this bowl - http://www.firstclassglass.com/americansweetheartpink.html without the stand, and probably larger. It came from my mom's family.
And I'm finally getting around to using my zoom lens - that's how I've been getting these cool macro shots. Most of my photos (except for my portrait and the bag, I think) have been taken with it. So reflections aren't a problem when the camera is 10-20 feet away from the subject! :)
The pretty balls are gorgeous sitting in that bowel - it might have been better leaving out the doily as it distracts from the main subject. The background is great!
I recognize them and remember that photo very well. I'm glad I'm not the only one that occasionally buys something for shooting purposes. Makes me feel less obsessed.
Lovely softness and great colours. I also ocassionally buy stuff to shoot and am getting quite an eclectic collection of useless stuff that comes in handy now and again. These look very Christmassy...
Really, the colors, the transparencies and the "iridescencies" makes this photo someting very special. The pastel color in the background and details notch at the glass completes the beaty of the piece. FANTASTIC!
ooooo! Is that a depression glass bowl? So very pretty and you tamed my nemesis....reflections in glass

Good to see that the ornaments get used for the purpose you bought them for more than once! They're very pretty.
ReplyDeleteLoverly soft feel about this picture, and it contrasts well against the hard edged graphics of yesterdays shot.
