Day 17 - Pinecrest Baptist Church

This is my by-hand attempt at HDR with a combination of masking three different exposures and then applying a highlight/shadow adjustment on the flattened result. Noise reduction and some sharpening with Neat Image. No color adjustments, though - the sun was blood red behind the roofline. I love how it came out!

(And yes, this is another mega church. It's as big as the 16-plex theater it sits next to. :) )

  1. Very nice HDR Cap. It came out great!

Do these mega churches actually "fill" on Sundays? Is there enough people in the towns/cities to fill all of these churches?

I'm in awe that these are all around your immediate vicinity.

  2. This is awesome Cap. Love the colors. I don't know what HDR is, but I'm sure you would be the one to pull it off.

  3. Wow! Who needs a plug in program when work like this can be done 'by hand'!! I hate to ask how long it took, but the results are well worth the time expended. Just beautiful!

  4. I wondered the same things as melummy as to whether all the churches get filled. Your photo today is lovely especially with the colouring.

  5. Oh yes, these get filled. And not just for one service on Sunday morning. The really big ones have 2 or 3 services going on simultaneously at least twice on Sunday morning. Then there's Sunday evening, Wednesday evening and various other programs and gatherings.

It's part of the culture here. Seriously. Even the police come out and stop traffic for half an hour to let the parking lots empty out. If you want to eat lunch (eh, excuse me! it's "dinner" on Sunday! lol) in a restaurant on Sunday, it's best just not to - they're packed to the gills.

  6. That's a great result. The overall warm glow on it is really effective and it's nicely framed. Great job. Your HDR skills are awesome!
